Election integrity in distress under years of worsening lies and manipulation
Visibility of scandals depends on which side is in the crosshairs
The essence of all this is that the American people are manipulated and lied to by political actors who should, at the very least, be thrown out of office and denied access to government. At the most, they should be tried, convicted, and sentenced harshly. And the role of Media and Big Tech in support of these lies needs to change, too.
Some history:
2010 – The ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) program called “Fast And Furious”, where the agency forces gun stores to sell to smugglers, who then pass them along to Mexican cartels, results in the death of an ATF killed with one of those guns. Barack Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder then claims that he hadn’t even heard of the program until a few weeks prior to testifying before the House Judiciary Committee. No one is ever brought to justice for this major screwup.
2012 – Attacks on a U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, result in the deaths of four Americans, including the senior American diplomat at the post. Susan Rice, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, goes on television and lies that the attack was a spontaneous reaction to an obscure film that enraged Muslims in the foreign country. Though the lie is eventually exposed, no one is held accountable, and the truth is suppressed until after the 2012 presidential election.
2012 – Obama is caught on a hot mic telling outgoing Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that issues such as missile defense systems for Eastern European nations “can be solved, but it’s important for him (Vladimir Putin) to give me space… this is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility.”
2012 – Then Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid claims, on the Senate floor, that Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney, a senator from Utah, “… hasn’t paid any taxes for 10 years.” He later publicly admits that he lied, and is proud that he did so.
2013 – The IRS is exposed for targeting conservative groups in ways that interfere with their ability to assist candidates they like. The scandal grows until it can no longer be denied or ignored by the Left or their lapdog media, and then Pres. Barack Obama vows to “… find out exactly what happened on this.” Nothing was ever done.
2016 – Hillary Clinton is exposed as “mishandling classified information" by using a personal server to hide communications from the public while Secretary of State under Obama. It later turns out that she had more than 30,000 emails wiped from her server, and directed staff members to use hammers to destroy evidence-carrying cell phones and other communication devices. Afterwards, in a mixed bag of public announcements, FBI Director James Comey made the incredible claim, contradicted by numerous agents in the FBI, that “… no reasonable prosecutor would bring … a case” against Clinton.
2016 – Following the election of Pres. Donald Trump, the "Russian Collusion Hoax” is sprung on the country and turns into a 2-1/2-year campaign by Democrats, and a few Republicans, to take down a president they don’t like. Though it was widely exposed as a fabrication from the start, to date no one has been held accountable. The scandal was financed by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
Incredibly, "The Hoax" was kept alive in the media through the 2018 midterm elections, and contributed significantly to Democrats taking control of the House 232 to 198.
2017 – A whistleblower claims Pres. Trump tried to convince Ukrainian Pres. Volodymyr Zelensky to “interfere" in the 2020 election. Nothing comes of this after a lengthy and theatrical investigation by Congressional Democrats, even though the Trump administration released a transcript of the call early on. The investigation undoubtedly affected the 2018 midterms. But, beyond that, the story does tie to the next suppressed scandal …
2019 – Pres. Bidens son Hunter drops a laptop off at the compute repair shop of John Paul Mac Isaac and never picks it up. Isaac encounters suspicious content on the laptop and contacts the FBI. The FBI makes a “forensic copy” of the hard drive in November, and confiscates the device the next month.
The FBI appears to have buried the story after that. But in October of 2020, the NY Post gets hold of the story and runs it 20 days before the presidential election. The story is a blockbuster, with evidence suggesting Biden has serious conflicts of interest with China, the CCP, Ukraine and Russia. But the Post story is falsely discredited by the FBI and the media, and shut down by Big Tech. Twitter, in its pre-Elon Musk days, suspends the Post’s Twitter account.
Following the election, polls showed that, had voters known about the laptop, it is very unlikely that Biden would have won.
2022 – After the FBI raided Pres. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in a widely publicized event looking for “classified documents,” evidence that surfaced almost a week before the 2022 election that Biden also had classified documents was suppressed and only recently came to light. It is clear this contributed to Democrats limiting Republican success in the midterms.
Trump’s lawyers were blocked from the premises while the FBI went through Mar-a-Lago with a fine-tooth comb. In Biden's case, only Biden lawyers were involved in looking through documents in multiple locations. When the Department of Justice eventually joined the search, following a visit to the home by Biden himself, Biden’s lawyers were allowed to accompany them.
Beyond the effect on the midterms, it is clear that Trump was treated as guilty during the conduct of the investigation, and Biden has been treated as innocent.
Overall, this manipulation of scandals, suppressed when they would hurt the Left, and exposed ad nauseam when they hurt the Right, have given the Left an election advantage built on lies to the American people.
Liberty lies bleeding until this abuse of the truth is stopped.
